“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” – Ray Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451

I read a statistic recently that hurt my heart a bit. It stated that about 1 in 4 American adults haven’t read a book in the past year. As you may already know, we love to read and we love the library. We go at least once a week to pick up new books, so hearing that almost 25% of our grown population hasn’t picked up a book in over a year is mind-blowing to me.
One of my hopes as a parent is to instill a love of reading in my kids. Books helped me to grow in ways that people in my life couldn’t have. They help develop language, empathy, understanding, and perspective. They are an instant cure for boredom and the perfect thing to turn to whether you need to escape or belong.
Children’s books are truly magical. They teach lessons and morals in the most imaginative and understandable ways possible. Here are over 100 of the books we have read and fallen in love with this past year to add to your home library.
