Sugar scrubs are one of my favorite ways to pamper myself and one of the first things I learned how to make when I started implementing natural products into my beauty regime. I love testing out different essential oils are herbs, and this combination is a winner.
Grapefruit essential oil works as a natural antibacterial agent, making it an excellent cleanser for the skin. It also is known to reduce inflammation and boost circulation. Because it is a citrus, grapefruit essential oil provides a bright, clean smell.
Arborvitae essential oil adds a deep woody scent to the scrub and is a potent cleansing agent due to its antimicrobial properties.
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 tsp Vitamin E
20 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
5 Drops Arborvitae Essential Oil (Douglas fir and cedarwood also work)
1/8 tsp beet juice (optional for color)

- Combine coconut oil, sugar, Vitamin E, essential oils, and beet juice in a mixer. Mix until completely combined.
- Store in a jar with a lid.
- To use: massage gently into skin and rinse.
*Because grapefruit essential oil is photosensitive, it is best to avoid direct sunlight for up to 12 hours on the skin where scrub is applied.
